Rose Basket Bouquet 2012

This gorgeous rose basket cake was for my mother who adores yellow roses. The bamboo sides were made from dark chocolate wafer sticks and the roses from fondant. I attempted to include yellow, orange, white, peach, and hybrid roses in this "bouquet" cake.

Purple Madness Cupcakes 2012

These purple and caramel colored cupcakes were inspired by my sister who loves all things purple. All of the flowers, hearts, butterflies and decorations are made from fondant. Half were white chocolate raspberry over either strawberry or chocolate cupcakes, the other half was caramel icing over strawberry or chocolate cupcakes.

Face Painting Info

I started face painting after I took my daughter to have her face painted at the local market. It looked so beautiful and enjoyable, I just had to try it for her birthday. So I did some online research, bought the best face-paint I could find, and tried it out. I've been painting faces for just about every party I've been invited to since. Children love to have their face painted, it's a bit like dressing up; pretending to be someone new and exciting! With my background in graphic design and commercial art, it was easy to apply my brush techniques to children's faces instead of a canvas.

Specialty Cake Info

When my sister announced she was getting married, I volunteered to make her a groom's cake. I had made cakes before for family, but never to the scale of a wedding cake. To practice for it, I first made her a wedding shower cake. It turned out beautifully and I learned specialty cakes with fondant are one of my favorite things to create. From then on, I have made a specialty cake for nearly every family event I attended. They make an event so much more memorable to have a centerpiece with the theme and spirit of the gathering.
